Waze is considered to be a social navigation system that connects you with other Wazers in the area to help beat traffic, with social plug-ins for Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare. If any of you have ever tried to head home from the city on a week night, you understand that your commute could be heavily impacted by the amount of traffic on the road.
Not only does it give you traffic updates, but you can alert others about the traffic you are stuck in, in case they’re thinking about taking the same route. The second feature of Waze that I thoroughly enjoy is the ability to report speed traps or cops on the side of the road in order to alert others to be cautious.
I have been using Waze for about three weeks and have really enjoyed the experience. You can download the app for free and try it for yourself. The only downside is that it does drain your battery fairly quickly, so be sure that you keep your phone plugged into a car charger when you are Wazing, especially if your destination is not your home.
